Application and Assessment Timeline

• The application process begins on January 1. Applications wishing to be considered must be submitted and received no later than 5:00 PM (PST) on March 31 of the current academic year. Applications that are incomplete or missing required materials will not be considered. Applications received after the deadline will not be accepted.

• The assessment will be conducted based on financial need and academic performance, and awards will be integrated into each student’s total financial aid package.

• Scholarship funds will be distributed by the end of May for the current academic year.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

• Be a currently enrolled monastic in a college or graduate program of Buddhist Studies, or

• Be a currently enrolled student in a Buddhist college, and

• Not have graduated in or before June of the current year.

Required Materials

For All Students

• A completed application form

• A copy of the current school enrollment document (An admission letter may be accepted for freshmen.)

For Current Freshmen and First-Time Applicants

• A résumé or CV (minimum 2,000 words)

• A copy of the paid tuition receipt

For Undergraduate Students in Their Sophomore Year or Beyond

• A copy of transcripts from the previous academic year

• A copy of the paid tuition receipt

For Graduate Students and Ph.D. Candidates

• A reference letter from the school principal or a professor

• A résumé or CV (minimum 2,000 words)

• An essay on Buddhism (minimum 8,000 words)
